Which amp is better for a 15'' mtx 9500?

2 alpine type R 1542 15" and MTX TE 1501D need to know if its a good match ?

  • I have two alpine type R 1542 15'" DVC subwoofers and i just bought an MTX TE 1501D amplifier mono-block class D, the AMP is 1500 rms and 4500 watts , the subwoofers are 750 rms and 2000 watts each , would the amp be able to handle both SUBS, or do i need a bigger amp,and also do ya think alpine type r 1542 15" are good , or should i get 2 MTX 9500.

  • Answer:

I have owned a pair of 15" Type R's and they are great subs. I now have 12" Type R's. As far as the amp. It will push those subs very well wired in parallel to 1 ohm. As long as your alternator can handle the power supply needed for the amp. Here is a good link on how to wire two 4 ohm DVC subs to one ohm in case you don't already know. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 MTX amps often do more than what they are rated at. Even though its rated at 1500 rms, you could very well be getting upwards 1700 watts depending on voltage.
