Would this be a good amp for my Subs?

Are these subs good for my amp?

  • I'm in the process of buying my first car stereo system, so I'm a little new to this. What i know is i got a free amp from my bro so the amp has to match with the subs. the amp i have is a 1000W Kenwood KAC-8101D I am looking to get 2 of these subs found here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kicker+-+CompVR+12%22+Dual-Voice-Coil+2-Ohm+Subwoofer/9894268.p?id=1218190975674&skuId=9894268 Are these subs a good match for my amp? What would you recommend?

  • Answer:

It would work, but it's a lot less power than what would be ideal. The CVR's are 400w rms, but that amp only produces 400w total. That means at best each sub will get 200w. 2 ohm wiring is done like this: http://m.seimg.net/product/img/subwoofer_wiring/2_subs_DVC_2_ohm_mono.jpg Ideally you'd want something that's around 800w rms at 2 ohms. Kenwood's kac-9105d comes to mind.

No that amp only puts out 400w rms at 2 ohms and each sub needs 400w rms. look for an amp around 800w rms this amp puts out 800w rms at 2 ohms http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_32722_Autotek-M1600.2.html
