4ohms subs have better sound to it, has more viariety of sound waves, but the 2 ohms subs can give you more pounding and just raw bass poundage doesnt give you the varitey of sound waves.

The difference is the resistance of the voice coil. 2 OHM voice coil or 4 OHM voice coil. I don't see why people would wanna buy something with more voice coil resistance.

2 ohms that's if its a turkey sub.

Wow, not a single answer on here seems helpful at all. The only difference is the impedance of the voice coil. However, this plays an important role in terms of wiring. For example, if you wire two 2 ohm voice coils in parallel, then the final impedance seen at the amplifier would be 1 ohm. The final impedance determines how much power your amp provide to your woofers. Typically the lower the impedance, the more power. However, if you go below what your amplifier can handle, it will either go into protect mode, or cook. Also, the lower your final impedance, the more heat produced. Therefore it will be harder on your electrical system and your wiring will have to be larger. Some subs have a single voice coil, and most have dual voice coils, which allow for more options in terms of wiring. Knowing what ohm your voice coils are is a key in finding the right amp for your sub. If you are wondering about a specific product, feel free to message me and I will help you out.

The difference is the resistance to the amplifier. If a subwoofer is 4 ohms on the amp, then it gets less wattage. Usually with 4 ohm to 2 ohm difference is that the ampflifier can put out twice as much power to the subwoofer because it's half the resistance. Dual 4 or dual 2 can only be hooked up to 2 or 1 ohms to an ampflifier unless you go up to 8 or 4 ohms on a subwoofer. More heat is generated, so be sure with a 2 or 1 ohm sub, you have a cooling fan built in the amplifier. And whatever you're hooking up, make sure the amp can handle it, with true wattage ratings and stability.
