Car head unit won't power up?

• Recently i have been having problems with my car head unit. It is a brand new Sony one which was recently working. Yesterday when i hit a speed bump and the Aux. (sound) level remained the same no matter what it was set at (so i could have the volume level at 50 but it would be the same noise as volume level 1). I later discovered the back of the head unit was getting very hot! and one wire had come undone, i reconneted the wire and nothing happened. The next day when i allowed it too cool it still did not work. so i took out a manual of how to wire a car and wired all the speakers correctly as the person before me had attempted and done it all wrong, but i kept the supply cables the same way. The old harness in the car was slightly worn like someone had been playing with it so i went out and bought a new one, when disconnecting the live cables i made the mistake of cutting through them all at once (seemed the easiest way and i dont know alot about wiring :s) when this happened i saw a spark it it felt like something popped. What was this?? After this i replaced the fuse in the head unit and checked the 5A fuse in my Ctreon Saxo which is apparanty the audio fuse. But now my head unit will not turn on what so ever! I took a multimeter and check from the 'red wire to the 'black wire' and i am getting 12V right to the very top of the harness which plugs into the head unit. Has anyone got any ideas of how i can get this working again or even thingsi can check? Do I need to test between the yellow supply and black 0v aswel? If I get nothing on them what would I check?   im going through these problems as well but my wiring is old and worn and will not stay have you check your bracket and wiring kit to make sure they stay connected if they arent your need a new wiring kit
