Stereo speaker set up questions?

  • okay well i have my receiver and 4 speakers. one speaker has a big sub woofer in it. i dont have an amp. is there any way i can take all the bass or most of the bass and send it to that sub woofer so i dont over beat the normal speakers? i want it for music. rap mostly so i need it to beat hard. or do i pretty much need an amp for it to beat hard? i know this is in car audio but i didnt know wht else to put it in. and im sure someone who knows how to do it in a car would know the same in a house or w.e

  • Answer:

This is certainly possible, you would need to run active crossovers on all your speakers, and bypass the sub 200hz down to the sub, the issue will be with the amps all pushing the same speaker. These requires a technique called chaining, which isn't possible with every amp. I'm sorry bro, but your best bet is to get a sub with an integrated amp to run with your system.
