What's the best amp for two "dual" Kenwood KFC-W3012?

Whats a good car amplifier?

  • i have two 12" subs that have a 1000watt peak a peice. my old kenwood 500watt amp is old and starting to go out. i want something that will push these subs and do a good job of it, what should i get? i would like an amp stronger than 500watts though.

First take in consideration the impedence load yoou intend to show the amp, whether it be 1ohm, 2ohm, or 4ohm. Then focus your attention on an amplifier that will deliver the RMS power you intend to apply to to the subwoofers. find a 2 channel amp that matches RMS with them per channel or a mono block class D that matches their combined RMS and wire them them so that the total resistance per channel matches what the amp is rated for. look here http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp for a wiring wizard that you select your number of subs and resistance per sub then it shows you possible ways to wire your subs. if you go with a total of 700 watts or more and you don't have a HO alternator, Deep Cycle battery or a Capacitor already its reccomended that you get a Deep Cycle battery preferibly and optima yellow top and a HO alternator. if you want to get a cap go with the rule of 1.0 farad per 1,000 watts of total system power.

If the subs are 1000 watts peak each, I would assume they are 500 watts RMS each. In this case you need an amplifier that will produce 1000 watts RMS at the ohm level you have the subs wired at.
