How to Install a Car CD Player that has a Tape Player?

Mp3 Car Adapter (No cassette player for a cassette adapter or auxillary output)?

  • I'm driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant and I only have a stock deck right now. It doesn't have a cassette player nor does it have an auxillary output. I want to plug n' play my Mp3 player in my car but I can't find an adapter that I was hoping could be used with the stock CD deck. I'm cool off trying to using a transmitter device as those things truly suck. Do you know of any products that are CD-compatable (not cassette tape-compatable) that I can use as an adapter to listen to my Mp3's on the road OR what I can maybe install myself?

This works through the FM section, but does not rely on transmitting the signal through the air to your antenna. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-CXovD13FhBF/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?showAll=N&g=770&i=142FMMOD01&c=3&tp=15

Eagles_Up speaks words of truth. The Scosche unit is the only kind that connects directly to the head unit that doesn't rely on an iffy wireless transmitter. It connects in-line with the antenna. I put one in my car and it works like a charm. The only thing I would suggest is to shop around, because Crutchfield does you no favors with the price. I got mine for 20 bucks, shipping included, from an online place called shop4tech. But it's still a good deal if you get it for more because those transmitters are all pretty lame. The only drawback to the Scosche unit is that it's hard-wired into the car and you can't easily transfer it to another vehicle.

It sounds like the only thing you could do is buy an FM transmitter. Depending on your MP3 player, there are some out there that are better than others. Try looking on amazon.com for FM transmitters. Google it and see which one works best with your MP3 player/area.

There isn't a CD compatible advice. I'd have to agree with you that the transmitter devices are horrible. The only thing that you could do besides use a transmittter, is buy an aftermarket deck that has an auxillary input.

I just bought the VR3 SD Card FM Transmitter ( http://www.amazon.com/VR3-MP3-PLAYER-MODULATOR-TRANSMITTER/dp/B000FCI7KS ) and it works quite well It plugs into the Cig Light Adapter and transmits the signal to your choice of FM station. It can hold an SD card (though you should probably not have one bigger than 2GB, it makes it take longer between songs if there are too many on the card.) and it can also have AUX input and a USB as well. It comes with all the necessary accesories and it's cheap too. Definitely worth it...
