What sort of CB antenna to get?

I have a small SUV and want to put a CB in it. I'm not sure what kind of antenna to mount on it. Do I need a really long 5" one? I have a Hy-gain Hy-Range IIa radio. I'm sort of new to the whole CB scene and just need an antenna that will keep me connected while I'm out and about in the forest or desert. Thanks

Yea if your out in the woods your gonna want a 102 inch steel whip. It doesn't get any better than that. Cbs are not very powerful at all. A cb is only as good as its antenna. Ive been cbing for along time

A helically wound antenna (like a Firestik) would give you nearly the performance of the full quarter-wave whip. Mount it in the center of the roof.
