What can I do with an old speaker?

Can I use the flexible tinsel lead from the OEM speaker to connect a new speaker to the old OEM connector?

  • I bought some new speakers and wanted to use the OEM connectors to install them. So I ripped the tinsel lead (flexible wire that's connected directly to the speaker) off the old speaker and soldered that to the new speakers +/- terminals. I did this because the tinsel lead wires had the OEM connectors on the other end. The new speakers seem to work okay but my question is is there any down side for doing this the way I did it? Would different wire provide better sound or a safer connection? Thanks

  • Answer:

its fine. just make sure you soldered it good. done it before.
