What cars have a really good stereo?

Is there cheap way to improve my cars stereo quality?

  • i have a 13 year old sedan that i have to drive to work everyday. i want to enjoy my 20min drive there but this POS stereo system sounds terrible. its sounds fine at ow levels, but im 18 and i like to crank up my rock, but when i turn it higher, the sound gets really crappy. even if i turn the bass all the way down, it still sounds distorted. any way to fix this inexpensively? can i just get a new stereo? i saw some nice ones at target for $80. will that change sound quality at all?

    I would just get new front and rear speakers to start with. Chances are the paper cones are getting shitty cause the car is 13 years old... Anyways, start with the speakers, and then maybe at a later date, get a new head unit and a 4-channel amp to send a little more power to the speakers. Oh and by the way, I work in the car-fi department at Best Buy and there is no such thing as free installation anymore. Bummer, but its worth the cost to have it installed properly. Its's $41.99 per pair to install the speakers, plus $11.99 per pair of speaker harnesses. So in total, it'll be around $110 for installation of 4 speakers. Good Luck!

You could just go out and buy new speakers. However it would be a waste of time if a channel is blown in the stereo itself. The cheapest way I could suggest is by going to Best Buy, see what specials on name brand stereos and speaker packages (usually they have a buy one get one free sub sale going on) and have their installers install the whole thing free as part of a package deal. This way you go in with lousy sound, and come out with amazing sound! Hope this helps!

I agree Jim M. I check with best buy the other day and they don't have free installation anymore you gonna have to buy the speaker and get it done there and they have a pretty good price and you can get from $40 and up and the installation the same what JIM M said. $41 for a pair of speaker and $11 for any additional were harness or you can buy it from eBay.com for cheap price and have someone experience to install it for you and yes you have to get a amp to push that power and after that you can get a new head united later. good luck.
