What aftermarket stereo head unit and speakers could I get to go with this system?
-
Ok i have a 1997 lincoln town car signature series, as you know it comes with the jbl system but the sub is blown and the door speakers only play the highs, i was actually wondering about two things, 1) if I was to get a aftermarket stereo head unit and new door speakers and back speakers ( pair of 6x8s and pair of 6x9s), i know i have to bypass the amp already in there but i was wondering how many watts is that amp and if it will power the new speakers with the head unit if I hook it all together without messing up the rest of the car and make it sound really good, second question is 2) I am plannin on getting 2 12" kicker cvrs in a porter box along with a kicker zx750.1 to power them, I was wondering what would be the best head unit and door speakers to go along with these so I can have great sound with these subs, mainly for the highs and mids but i like having that great sound in the car as well so thats what I am trying to figure, any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Answer:
For your first question. I'm pretty sure that stock amp you have will power up the speakers, but you have to find out and make sure that it's not over the recommended speaker watts or you could blow them. Try and see if you can look at that stock amp. It'll usually say how much watts that amp can put out. If not, you can probably try and calling up the dealer to find out. But what I would really suggest just getting rid of it and getting a new amp for your mids and highs. For your 2nd question. If you want clear sounding stereo, for your head unit, I would suggest getting a kenwood excelon deck. As for your mids and highs, I would go with crystal's. Crystal's is pretty up there when it comes to clarity. But I must warn you, they aint cheap... just a pair of 2 inch tweeters cost me about $250, but I tell ya, it's worth it if you really want to go with clarity. But if you just wan't something loud, then I'd go with any other brand with a stong watt output. Ask yourself what you really want first...Loud or Clear? which direction you want to go. From there decide how much you willing to spend, and then research and compare. It'll take awhile to make your final decision, but it's best and well worth it to be getting something your happy with than regretting and say "I should of gotten the other one" somewhere down the road.
