Can I hookup my car subwoofer to my PA system at home?
-
I have an Alpine type R car subwoofer and a 2000 watt amp in my car. I also have a PA system in my house but it has no bass. I would love to be able to put the sub in my house and connect it to the PA system to add a little bass. Is this possible? if so, please help

Answer:
Obviously your amp is wired for a 12v input. If you hook it up to the 120v in your house, you'll be lucky if the fuse saves your amp. You need something to convert the voltage going into the amp from 120v to 12v. Look for a 'converter' http://www.nextag.com/120v-ac-to-12v-dc-converter/compare-html You may have to get creative. But then you can wire the sub up normally after doing so. One more thing with the amp.... you will need a 'remote' on/off switch as well. This also has to be 12v.
