How to upgrade my car audio system?

  • i have the 2004 camry le v6.. comes with a jbl audio system im not sure about any of the wattage ratings on the car though, but i know theres the standard speakers in the door panels not sure of size, and two 6x9 speakers in the back above the back seats.. the back speakers cant handle the bass of my ipod on full blast so im lookin for them to go.. i have about 500$ to use that ive saved.. what should i buy.. and can i replace the two back speakers with subs? or should i have the speakers replaced and put subs in the trunk.. also what amplifier will i be looking to get.. so all you tech guys out there i could use the help

    subs would sound better in a box in the trunk but im sure you wouldnt sacrifice much bass just goin with two 6 1/2" subs to replace the 6x9's in the back.kicker and jl audio makes 6 1/2 inch subs or you could have the hole upsized and use 8" subs. the 6 1/2 arent gonna fit perfectly into a 6x9 hole but ive done it b4 and you will b able to mount them in the back.but i would get you a couple pieces of 1/4 inch plywood and cut out a 6 1/2" hole in the plywood and mount them in place of the 6x9's.your gonna need a small amp too i would suggest a 600w power acoustik. their real good amps if you wanna go cheap if not get a kicker 200.2 for bout $105. new dats all you'll need to push a 6.5 inch sub

It's not the speakers that are failing. The input of the stereo is being overdriven to clipping distortion. If you get speakers as big as the moon, you will still get the same distorted signal. Cut the iPod down until the distortion is gone. If you run this through an amp, it will amplify the same distortion- you will not be happy.
