How to use factory gain control with aftermarket speakers?

How can i control my subwoofer level with my factory HU?

  • I have a 2005 Mazda 6. I recently got CarToys to install my 2 12" R1s in this car because they were in an old Honda of mine with,of course, an aftermarket HU. It cost around $160 for them to install the subs and for the RCA attachment on the back of the factory HU in my Mazda. I have the Kenwood KAC 1000w amp. monoblock. Really what I'm wanting to know is how to be able to change the subwoofer level. my amp does not have a remote for it and the stock Mazda HU does not have the option to change sub levels. All the sound coming from the subs right now are just from the BASS setting that the HU can do for the original car speakers. So the subs don't hit nearly at all like they should vs. being in my Honda. The installer at CarToys even has the Gain and Bass settings on the amp at the max. what do i need to buy to fix the problem? or what at all can i do? what would approximately be the overall price? thank you so much -Trent

  • Answer:

sounds like the rca attachment (line level converter) is not putting out enough volume for your amplifier.i would try one of these. http://cgi.ebay.com/Universal-Remote-Bass-Level-Amp-Gain-Control-Hi-Low-New-/390316021604?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae0a5d764&vil=1#ht_2140wt_1132
