How many amps does the Power Acoustik LT1440/2 2-Channel Amplifier draw?

  • It has four 20amp fuses, so does it only draw 20 amps. Is it different from having two 40 amp fuses?

    Using ohm's law P/E=I and using 4 ohm load... 720 watts RMS (bridged) / 12 volts = 60 amperes 600 watts RMS (stereo total) / 12 volts = 50 amperes 720 / 13.8 = 52.17 600 / 13.8 = 43.47 720 / 14.4 = 50 600 / 14.4 = 41 2/3 720 / 15 = 48 600 / 15 = 40 _____________________ According to the guy above: 1440 / 720 = .5 80 X .5 = 40 Which is pretty dead on of my very last calculation...hmmmm! So that means that the manufacturer estimates your car will produce 15 volts. They also take into account that your car may produce less volts as well. This is the reason for so many fuses.
