How can I power 4 speakers with a 2-channel amp?

Hook up question: I have a Jensen Power-760 for my front 4 speakers plus a 2 channel amp for the subs?

  • I have 2 red and 2 white rca out puts in the back of my radio. How would I hook up my front 4 speakers to the 4 channel amp though my radio and hook up my radio to my 2 channel amp? The 4 channel amp has 2 red and 2 white rca imputs and the 2 channel has 1 red and 1 white imput. How many rca cords should I get?

  • Answer:

That really depends on what function the 2 pair of outputs on your head unit is for. For instance, if they were front and rear outputs, you could use the front pair for your highs (and get (2) 'Y' cables to split them) on your 4-channel amp and the rear pair to send signal to your sub amp. But they could be some other arrangement; just depends on your model head unit. Another option would be to get a passive crossover that has front/rear/non-fading outputs to connect everything and balance it out that way. Just shoot me an email if you have any questions.
