How do I hook up an amp?

How do you hook up one amp to Subs, but another amp to speakers?

  • i already hav an amp connected to my subs and i also hav a second battery in the back but i was thinking of throwing another small 4 channel amp for the door speakers. but i dont know how to connect the second amp. can i just connect them to the other amp and the run the new RCAs from the headunit and connect them to the amp? i have a headunit that has 3 RCA inputs to run them to the back.. but i dont know.. can somebody give me a guide to understand how to wire or hook up a second amp?

  • Answer:

You have to run 2 sets of rcas to back it would be front and rear ... Just ground and power from battery Just take remote from other amp and split it to both amps The harder part is running speaker wire to back Goodluck

if you have at least 4 gauge wiring from battery to the first amplifier all you need is a (distribution block) on the end of that line near your first amplifier.this will give you 3 places to pick up power.then you just jump the remote turn on wire from the first amp to second.and 2 sets of RCA cables for running a 4 channel amplifier from head unit to amplifier. one more time, jump the remote turn on wire/ 2 rd power from d block to new amp and RCA cables from head unit to channeled amplifier, and your done if your charging system can handle this.i got away with it in my jeep cherokee.good luck with your system.
