The best truck radio?

If i change the radio /receiver in my 01 f-150 truck with one from best buy will it improve the sound of my?

  • radio in the truck even if i dont change any speakers or add woofers/bass

  • Answer:

it will help a little but you cant do much with stock speakers. having ford im guessing you have 6x8's so you could go with 6x8's or u could get the adapter and put 6.5" component speakers in front and the 6x8s in the rear. or you can get 6x9's and 6x9 boxes to put in back. not sure if you want bass or not but if you do u can get an mtx thunderform for your truck. i would go with this... audiobahn 6.5 in front http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17986 audiobahn 6x8 in rear http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17210 and a good head unit like kenwood excelon or pioneer premier you may want to check that site for your cd player too should be a lot cheaper than best buy

Upgrade your speakers first. It's easier. This will make the most sound difference.

It will be louder and have less distortion than your factory setup. At nominal levels there will not be much difference from factory to aftermarket.

go with speakers and woofers/bass

Well it can if you purchase a higher quality stereo that is in the truck, but it would help allot more if you put better speakers in and added a sub-woofer.

I had a factory am/fm radio in my car when I bought it. The sound realy sucked. After I bought a CD player and 2 6x9s the sound was sooo clear and crisp. I dont know if it was because of the CD player or the Speakers or both. But I noticed a extreme difference between the old and the new.

You should upgrade the radio, speakers and a amp to power the speakers. Your factory radio and speakers are made to work with each other, so some of you may have noticed when you put in a aftermarket radio, but did not change your factory speakers you lost some of your bass. Most factory speakers, especially fords do not work on 4 ohms. Normally they are 6 or 8 ohms, as my mustang, so this is why your factory speakers are connected to a factory amp at 6 or 8 ohms. You can get better quality radios and speakers online than at best buy for cheaper. checkout, www.crutchfield.com, www.sounddomain.com, and www.ebay.com. For radios stick with Alpine, Clarion pro, eclipse, kenwoods exce, & pioneer pre. As far as speakers, components speakers up front will give u better sound quality. I personally use Phoneix Gold 6.5 comps in my stang. Older Pioneer models, Alpine, Infinity, Phoenix Gold & kenwood all make good speakers. There are others out there. You got to do ur research on the sound and product you want. Checkout a website called, www.cardomain.com, search for your year F150. See what everyone else is using for sounds in their F150, and depending on your budget mitch and match a good system. Then buy them online, on ebay, and you can save over 50% for new items.
