Which amp for Alpine Type R's?

How should i wire my Alpine M1000 amp into two 2ohm alpine type Rs?

  • i have the alpine m1000 class d monoblock amp and just ordered two 2ohm 12inch type Rs (the new ones) whats the best wiring configuration for spl, diagrams would be greatly appreciated

  • Answer:

The amp is stable at 2 ohms. And a pair of DVC 2 ohm subs can be wired to present a final impedance of 2 ohms. The voice coils should be in series (4 ohms) and the subs in parallel. Use the diagram here: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_2-ohm_mono.jpg The Type R's were delivered with a pair of short "jumpers" terminated with banana plugs. To series the voice coils, connect one of the jumpers between the 2 center terminals on both subs. To parallel the subs, connect the remaining + and - from both subs to the amp + and -.
