What are some good speakers and speaker brands?

Good brands for subs and speakers?

  • im putting in a new speaker system in my truck and i just wanted to know what are some good brands? i already know im putting two 13" JL subwoofers. what is a good amp, regular speakers, etc.? i want a loud bass that wont blow up my system. anyone got GOOD tips?

  • Answer:

i have never heard of 13 inch jl speakers...do you mean 12. sony makes good car amps for a good price. the best amps are infinity. if you are going to have 2 subs you are going to need a 2 way amp. the size of the amp is going to depend on what speakers you get and how much they can handel. you need to get an amp that has more power than the speakers can handel so you don't have to run the amp on full gain.(running amp on full gain is very bad and can cause it to overheat). another thing is if you can get a warranty on car stereo equiptment it is the best thing you can do...unlike everything else stores try to get you to warranty. good luck. if you go to best buy or circuit city ask for open box items and buy the warranty ( if it breaks they will replace it with the same item BRAND NEW!!!! it is the way to go

advice......don't do it. Don't be a dork.

Always Right

I would go with a standard size like 10" or 12". Simply because it's going to be hard to find an enclosure that will fit the size of those subs. Here is some info on enclosures (and other tips): http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com As far as what to get...go to a pro audio shop and grab a listen. Your ears will be the advice you can get. I nor anyone else can tell you what you like.

I've got 2 12"rf p1 and a kenwood 600w amp with custom speaker box and it sounds pretty kick *** well in a taurus anyways and then i run 2 6x9 3 way kenwood speakers in the rear and 2 boston acoustic 3.5" speakers up front with a kenwood mp 919 deck.

the best amp with jl audio is pheonix gold, trust me ask your local shop they will tell you the same. Phonex gold is the bomb.

Try investing that money in a good mutual fund. When you grow up you will like the money much better than a car stereo that annoys everybody and plays stupid music loudly.

dont listen to jeremycharge *Subwoofers* first of all you need to be more specific on exactly wich JL audio subs you are getting because there are 7 13" JL audio subs. and i dont know wich one you are talking about. and it would take to long to explain each one. wich one of these is yours??? 13W1v2-4 13W1v2-8 13W3v3-2 13W3v3-4 13W3v3-8 13W6v2-D4 13W7-D1.5 so before you can get any accurate answer you need to put the exact sub you are getting *Speakers* as for speakers these are some good brands Boustin Acoustics Kenwood eXcelon Infinity MB Quart Polk Audio Diamond Audio Alphasonik just make sure that there RMS wattage is close to what your head unit will push. unless you'll only be using them for high's only wich means you'll leave all the bass to the woofers. *Head unit* for this just get whatever floats your boat since you're not looking for anything to serious. in my opinion i think that PIONEER makes the coolest head units. but JVC and KENWOOD got some nice ones too. alpine head units suck. DUAL also makes really flashy head units.
