How to hook up a pair of sub woofers?

• I want to hook up a pair of sub woofers, but I have a stock radio. Is it possible to plug my amp into my battery, then wire that to my subs, next connect the speaker wire from the sub woofer into my amp, and finally hook up speaker wire from my rear speakers to the two plugs in my amp that would normally be connected to the radio. I know this sounds confusing, but if you know what I am talking about and you know the answer please let me know. Thanks!

  no, but you can do something like that, you wire the power and ground to the amp (as well as remote), then you can go to walmart and buy a little blue box for $20 that you plug your speaker wires into and it has the rca output for your subs, you put the rca wire in then it works fine, the only problem doing it like this is that it's not all bass coming from your subs, you also get the vocals from it since its running from the speaker wire instead of rca out in a stereo
