Why doesn't car speaker work?

Whats wrong with my car speaker connections? i have to connect the negative to a ground to make it work?

  • my front passenger seat speaker has something wrong wit it, i have to like bridge a ground (say for example a metal plate from the car) to a little bit befor the negative terminal that plugs into the speaker cuz if i dont it doesnt work. and then most of the times when i turn off the stereo neither of the fron speakers work and i have to unplug and then plug back the terminal of my passenger side speaker to make it work... what can i do? how would i fix this short circuit thing? i just put in a new stereo... does that have anything to do with it? or should i follow the wire all the way to the speaker?

  • Answer:

sounds like your stereo isnt grounded good. A radio can turn on and kinda play from the ground it gets thru the antenna but thats not good. Make sure your ground wire to the stereo is to a solid peice of metal.
