Can i bridge two amps together to run one set of subs?

  • can i bridge two amps, both fosgate, one about 500 watts rms and the other about 250 watts rms, together to run one set of subs? or is that a bad idea?

  • Answer:

That is not doable. Best case scenario: it won't work Worst case scenario: you start a fire and fry your equipment. Sorry.

You cannot connect two amplifiers to the same set of speakers, unless they're identical amplifiers and specifically designed for this. Amplifiers made for this type of setup are often called "strappable" amps. If your amplifiers aren't strappable, and not identical, you'll damage them by combining them on the same subs.

No thats fine if u dont have enuf power or $ to buy a high power amp.. Its worse to under power ur subs.. Always try to match rms power of subs/amp or u can go a little over is ok but not too far.. Too be sure chek the soecs on both ur amp n subs for the subs recommended Rms power range and the amps max Rms output. If u want email me the exact model numbers of ur subs and amp and il chek it for u [email protected]
