Best setup for my car sub?

I have a sub setup in my car and for some reason my headlights flicker , dome light dims and etc. why??

  • this is my setup all brand new. subw 1200 watt, rockford wiring kit, kenwood 1700 watt amp,(500 ohms or something i dont know, $300 at best buy) , 1 farat capacitor , alpine head unit with rca cables hooked up. All of the wiring is correct im assuming if u have an answer possibly provide a link to a wiring diagram for complete system setup. But yeah my headlight will flash if the power is turned up on the amp, i dont know if i need another capacitor or what?

  • Answer:

ALL of the above is good, RESEARCH,1. larger cap would be good; 1 farad is not enough!2.how old is your battery?more than 3 yrs, replace it. 3.H.O. alt. should be more than 120 amps. with PROPER modification under the hood!! can stress that enough. FIRE can result. are you going bigger and louder in the next 3 years? plan for it. RESEARCH! YOU HAVE ENTERED THE BASS ZONE. personnaly I have enough power that you can feel the bass through your chest, and yes it does effect your breathing.

try setting up an amp that goes through a power inverter then installing a fuse on the battery line that runs from the amp to the battery through the inverter. Us gold plated parts when possible and you better cables the value you save sacrifices sound

Every time the bass hits your amps draw tons of power. You may need to upgrade your alternator to a high output one.
