Why wont my car stereo turn on?

  • Im putting in my stereo and i have the red with red yellow with yellow and black with black. i checked the fuses and they are good. the stereo was working yesterday but now its not? didi fry the stereo or something? ill turn the car on and the stereo is still dead. plz help thanks

    What's the year and model of your vehicle? Edit: make sure you check both fuses; #11 and #8 in the fuse box at the driver's side dash. Double-check the wiring at the back of the radio, and make sure nothing was pinched or had the insulation come off. There will also be a fuse in the back of the head unit, but if it's blown, it usually means you have a defective head unit or there's a problem with the speaker wiring.

There's a few places to start at with the limited info provided. Most cars nowadays have multiple fuses and fuse locations. Be sure to check them all. Also check the actual radio fuse. Most aftermarket radios come with a fuse in the actual until itself. Also you'll want to check your ground. You wont get power up if you have a bad ground.
