Where can a 17-year-old work as a waitress in CA?

Looking for a new waitress job. know any good restaurants to work at?

  • I am currently a senior in high school and i work at a mongolian place as a waitress (im american) but the owner takes our credit card tips and only wants me to work for two hours, 5 days a week. at $4.50/hr. and it takes me 25 min just to get there!! ANYWAY..... i am looking for a new job as a waitress but i would really like some suggestions on good restaurants to work. i need a job ASAP! PLEASE HELP! thanks so much!

    Olive Garden, Pizza Hut, Applebee's, Denny's and any other Large Chain Family Style Restaurant you are close to would be a good place to start. It will look good on your resume and it is likely that you will be treated better. They are owned by larger companies such as General Mills Corporation, Pepsi, and others. They will have much higher standards and much better policies in place to protect their employees from unfair labor practices. Their pay rates are likely to be competitive as well. I would also suggest applying online with any companies that offer this option and then following it up with a telephone call to conserve your gasoline during your search. If you cannot apply online often times you can still save time by downloading and printing the application. You can then have it filled out and ready to drop off allowing you to visit more establishments in one day to apply. Good luck.

Also might help if you tell us where you live. You need a new job. McDonalds pays more than that. Hit the streets, kid. Do make sure you take your job history, references and any phone numbers with you along with a few fresh pens. Hit every door you can find. Jobs are scarce right now, so don't be picky. Hit malls and strip malls. You never know, but don't EVER take the application home with you. Fill it out there. It's a much better chance of you getting a job.

All I can tell you to do is go to every place in your town,,you should be able to find something.. I don't see how they can take your tips like that!! You need to call the Labor Broad on them..what have you got to lose,,you are looking for another job,,it might help someone else out..like the next person working there!
