What is the Uniform for Red Lobster?

Lobster question.. restaurants.. lobster tail?

  • When you go to a restaurant, why would someone get a lobster tail over a whole 1/4 lb- 1/2 lb lobster. I always noticed that the lobster tail is more expensive usually bc it comes with a filet, but still, I always get the 1/4-1/2lb lobster with the claws and all that good stuff. I am wondering why someone would get a tail.. bc maybe I will try it some time :) I've just been weary to try it bc it sounds like a smaller portion

  • Answer:

allot of people are lazy and don't want to go through the mess or work of braking through all the shells. with the fillet & tail (surf & turf) it's enough to eat w/o getting over stuffed. Pound per pound the fillet costs more to buy. most restaurants do not have big tanks to store live lobsters they'll stay fine for a couple of days max is a fridge so they boil them save the tails for surf & turf and use the body & claw meat for soups and salads also spiny lobster (warm water) lobster have no big front claws it's big in so. florida and so calf. however most tails are imported from Costa Rica hope that helps Maine lobster is the best to me

A 1/4lb lobster tail is part of a much larger lobster. Even a 1/2lb full lobster will have a smaller tail. While you will get the claw meat as well, many people just like to have a nice full tail.
