Where are the best places to eat in Lexington Kentucky?
-
I just relocated to Lexington Kentucky. Does any one know any good places to eat? I want something different. I want something laid back, yet not too snooty. Not too rowdy either. Somewhere that I can take someone on a date and have a good martini and good food. I'm a bit "artsy" so I would love a place that would cater to a young 20-30 something diverse crowd. Any ideas? There's a place where Im from that that has a great bar, good food, and you can chill out and relax on the leather sofas, wireless internet, have a good martini, or eat. Please help...

Answer:
McDonald's...come on, it IS Lexington. OK, Mellow Mushroom on S. Upper St. is a place to get some good pizza.

I would recommend Malone's or Sal's Italian Chophouse (both are owned by the same people), both located in the Lansdowne shopping center on Tates Creek Road, just inside New Circle. Malone's has great steaks (although I also recommend the Chop House on Richmond Road for great steaks), and Malone's is attached to a bar (Oscar's) which is a great spot to chill out. Sal's has a great menu, and these are probably 2 of the best atmospheres in Lexington. For French food, A La Lucie (on North Limestone) is great; very small and intimate dining room, great food, but somewhat expensive. Portofino's (downtown on Main) has great Italian food and a nice outdoor patio that attracts the after-work crowd. In my opinion, the best Italian in Lexington. Finally, for something a little more casual, try the Atomic Cafe on North Limestone near the Transylvania University campus. Great caribbean food, awesome outdoor bar and patio, and they usually have a reaggae band a couple of nights a week.

Try "Seviche", "Nios" or "Asiatique" for that cool martini vibe you're looking for.
