Can restaurant.com gift card be used to purchase gift certificate combined with promo code?

I am thinking about purchasing a resturant.com gift card because its on-sell online for half the price. ex: $50 for $25. Then use it toward purchasing already discounted gift certificate, ex: $25 for $10. But I also want to use the promo code that they offer every once in a while, for deals like $25 for $2. In this instance, i can use the gift card to purchase individual $25 gift certificate for $1. If anybody have tried this, please share with me this brilliant result. But this formula does sound a lil too good to be true...
