    About 1 1/2 hours SW of Nashville, TN is a little town named Lynchburg, home of the Jack Daniel's Distillery. The town is only 2 blocks square, but at the edge of town sits Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House (no longer a boarding house, but a restaurant.) The food is genuine southern home cooking and it will knock your socks off. You sit at a table with 11 other folks and a local hostess. The food is served family-style (bowls set on the table, all you can eat). Everything is made from scratch and the vegtables are grown locally. Thank God I live 400+ miles away or I'd be 500+ lbs. by now. If you're ever in middle Tennessee, stop by. Reservations required, but dress is totally casual.

Kern County Bakersfield, California. It has the best mexican restaurant. El Sombrero. It is awesome. Locally owned and totally the stmosphere of locals and family! My family and I go there all the time!
