What is the better way to get a part time job?

What is a good way to get a part time job that pays more than minimum wage?

  • Need to pay the rent, but don't want to spent all my time doing that.

  • Answer:

Go into Bartending or waiting tables. it does not sound very exciting, but I've done it for 10 years and could never do anything else, because of the money itself. Your paycheck won't be much, but the tips will make up for it. I was making an average of $80 (slow day)- $200( busy day) in tips- A DAY, not counting your hourly wage. That was at an average casino restaurant. If you can do fine dining or work in an up-scale bar...a few extra days a week could make you a lot of extra money. And bartending could be fun! My sister worked in an upscale bar as a cocktail waitress and was making $500/$600 a DAY! The only downside is a lot of places won't tax you on your tips with your paycheck, therefore you have to claim a certain percentage on your taxes, or you could get audited. Luckily I worked in a place that took it out of my paycheck so I did not have to worry about that. Anyway, that's my 2 cents- GOOD LUCK!

You can sell waterless car wash products that work on cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, airplanes, etc. You can also use these same products and start a mobile detailing business. Since no water is required, this can be done at any location. This is the original waterless car wash, not an imitator and has been around since 1991.

Question: What is a good way to get a part time job that pays more than minimum wage? Need to pay the rent, but don't want to spent all my time doing that. Answer: There are quite a few ways to make a few bucks without devoting a lot of time. Depending on where you live, there should be some fringe jobs available. I've done various odd jobs here and there myself without resorting to working a minimum wage gig. You can try to find work as a waiter at a busy restaurant. The baseline pay will be minimum wage, but the tips should compensate you really well. A good restaurant on a busy night will get you hundreds of dollars, easy. I also have a buddy who delivers pizzas part time. It's a real job, and he pockets most of the tips. He manages to easily pay his rent. Of course, a car is required if you want to deliver food. Sometimes you'll see weird one-off jobs in the newspaper. One summer when I was a college student, I delivered phone books. The trick was to find apartment complexes and drop off 100 books at a time. There is also the ebay "thing", which pays the rent for a lot of people. You might find you like it enough to do it full time if you can develop good distribution channels and a niche product.

Most skilled jobs pay more than minimum wage. The best way to get skills is to figure out what you like to do and then figure out a way to perform skilled labor in that area. This may involve taking a few courses or getting some kind of certification. You want to stay away from jobs that don't offer a good upward path. If all of people in charge are in those positions because they've had the job a long time, that is a BAD sign. Small companies don't always pay more at first, but you can get good experience that is worth big bucks. Some jobs pay a lot because they're very dangerous. I'd also recommend staying away from those.

The tips will be great and the time would go by fast, as you will always be busy, providing you work in a larger restaurant. My son works part-time as a busboy and they split the tips, but he still makes more than minimum wage. You get paid less per hour than the mininum wage earners, but with the tips, you come out ahead.
