How can anybody make a liven on a $8.00 an hour job?

I live in NY I work at a pizzeria making $6/hour plus tips from deliveries. I am losing money working here.?

  • There's a delivery charge on anything that's delivered, but I, the driver, who is wasting my gas and depreciating my vehicle, don't get to see that money. I get no extra compensation for gas or depreciation of my truck (which gets 14-16 mpgs). I have to fill up every 5-6 days because I commute 36 miles daily and then do deliveries at night. Fill ups cost me anywhere from $55-80. After a good week I usually get about $70 from my cheapo boss. People around here tip poorly. I usually get $1-3 tips occasionally a nice person or a friend will give me $5-7. There's not even that many deliveries alot of times I make no deliveries and make no tips. If the person I deliver to doesn't tip me, I just wasted gas and depreciated my truck for $6 an hour on a 10 minute delivery. That doesn't even cover gas. I feel like something is wrong here and I'm not profiting any money. I constantly talk to my boss about how I deserve to get paid more and he always says what the hell do you do you do nothing! I bust my a*s working for him he has me do all this work I breathe in bleach all the time, when we heat up the metal parts of the stove and spray bleach on them I can't breathe from all the bleach steam that comes up, I scrub the ceilings and the walls and the dishes, the windows, the signs, the floor, I calk the sink, I get dirty and sweaty breaking my back for six measly dollars an hour. I've been here for 6 months. Looking at his employment history I'm the longest delivery boy who's ever been here. The boss likes me alot ( i wonder why, none of his other delivery boys ever did any kinda work like I do) he has a fence company on the side I even busted my a*s helping him with a fence. I worked 10 hours in the hot summer sun with no break no water no food no nothing. For that he paid me $69 and thought he was such a big generous guy. What can I do besides quit? I am looking for another job, sadly this is all i've got and I can't afford to quit even though every day I see him all I want to do is tell him I quit and yell at him. He's a complete hot head he yells all the time for every little thing. That doesn't bother me too much because I yell right back and stand my ground, but it'd be nice to not always be yelled at for everything I do. O and one other thing, he always tries to get me to do work and deliveries when I'm off the clock if I like sign out and am having a slice a pizza for dinner since I don't get breaks. If i worked from 5-10:15 he tries to make me write on the calendar 5-10 because he told me at 9:50 I had to finish everything by 10. If I don't finish say doing the dishes and taking out the garbage by 10 they'll make me finish and then tell me that I can't write down the actual time I finished that I have to write down 10. I can't take it anymore I'm about to flip out can anybody tell me anything I can do???

  • Answer:

get another job I earn 8.50 just to walk around target store and be friendly with ppl that's so great.. sooo is unfair FIIIND ANOTHER JOB ASAP!

You need to find another job, he has made it perfectly clear he is not going to pay you anymore. You can write off the mileage and maintenance of your vehicle on your tax return, it would be worth it to do so. I would also find an old camry--they run forever, instead of the gas hog you have now.
