Where can I get my working papers from?

Where can I get working papers in NJ?

  • I'm 17 years old and I dropped out of High School and got my GED, and yesterday I had a job interview and they told me I needed working papers since I'm a minor. I know I used to be able to get them from the High School, but where could I go to get them now that I'm not in school anymore? And would the school still need to fill out the portion of the document they're supposed to even though I'm no longer attending?

  • Answer:

Local High school seems to be the only place that has them. They will only fill out what they need to, if you are not attending that school then they will put the relative information in there. But I must say I think you made a mistake. The job market is poor and people who are old enough need to support their families and can't get a job. I will admit I don't know you or your situation, maybe you need to do the same. But employers want to see high school graduate more than GED on you application, it's a unspoken bias when hiring people. Though you may think you surpassed your fellow classmates in getting your diploma before them, they (the employers) don't look at it that way. Anyway good luck.
