How long do i legally have to show up to work?

• How long do i have to show up to work? Ok, so I work with my dad for a company and he is an *** about 95% of the time. The shop opens at 5 am or something like that, but we have been told to be there by 6. The problem I have with this is: 1) my time doesn't usually start till 6:30 at the earliest, and 2) anytime I show up at 6, my dad is usually in the bathroom for at least 15 minutes, so I have to stand around and wait for at least 20 minutes before we even find out what we are doing for the work day. It has even been as bad as me meeting him at the jobsite at 7, and then he doesn't show up until 8 or 8:30.. So how long do I legally have to show up to the shop before anything can be said or done? If it just means I have to listen to him complain about it, I can deal with that.( after all, he is my dad and I can ignore him)..

  Well I suppose it is up to your Dad, however in most states with most jobs you have a 15 minute cushion... But why not just go when he asks and get paid to sit around? Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me =)
