How to return an item to the store?

Can I return an item bought from ebay, at a store?

• K, I ordered something (NEW) off of ebay for about half of the retail cost. The shipping seems to be slow and they pushed it back an extra day which means it going to be here 3-4 days later than it was supposed (because of the weekend). I need it before then, because I am leaving the state. If i buy the item (new) at retail at a brick&mortar store, could i return the new item i receive from ebay, at the store? I know serial numbers would be different, should i open and switch? (the box doesn't have shrink wrap or anything, just cardboard.) It will be new, not used,and the same item. But still... if it's new, would they care?

  if the serial numbers are different they may not find it in their system at the store and won't accept it. I suggest contacting the seller on ebay and asking them.
