How to build a clientele as a hairstylist?

Hairstylist needing help building clientele?

• i am new in the hairstyling world, and i need help building a clientele. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas besides referrals on how to get new clients in the doors.. was thinking of advertising in the local newspaper.. but need discount ideas or buy one get one.. buy something get something free or discounted.. what would get you in the doors, and open to try a new stylist?

  Will you be working in someone else's salon or are you trying it on your own? I assume you will be at an established salon. As a customer, but sis to a hairstylist,I routinely walk in and try a new stylist, especially if they offer some sort of discount, especially on cuts, styling, and overall color (only 2 people will ever put highlights in my hair!) If you make people reasonably happy, and they like you, they will likely be back. There will always be some prima donnas you can't make happy no matter what. People are a little more open to new stylists than they used to be i think. I know beauty schools in my area are busier than ever with people coming in for discounted services.
