In Illinois, how much does it cost for getting a permit at a local place that makes em?

I live in Illinois and in 5 months ill be turning 15. In school we have a rule of when were 16 we get permits... I want to make mine early at a local Jesse White Social Security place. I was just wondering to get a permit do you only take a written test? What about getting behind the wheel with a driver person to determine how well you drive or if you pass? Also our school charges 300 bucks for the drivers ed program. How much would it cost to get it done at the place?

Answer:
You have to wait until you take a driver's ed course to get a permit. From age 15 to age 17 and 2 months, you must be currently enrolled in a driver's ed course to get the permit. http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/driver_education/instructpermit.html
