Does USPS deliver late?

Up to how late does USPS deliver?

• I'm expecting a package from USPS today. According to their tracking site, it's still saying the expected delivery is today. It's almost 6:00PM now. Up until how late at night do they deliver? It's been in the news that people have been stealing packages off doorsteps so I don't want to leave the house if there's still a chance it'll be delivered today. I just don't know up until what time they would deliver.

  USPS can deliver up to 10:00pm. But, that rarely happens. They want their carriers in no later than 6:00pm. Also, they won't leave a package unless the recipient has authorized them to do so or if the sender authorized it. During this time of the year most parcel lockers are full and your package will be brought back to the station. A quick tip: If you have the tracking number it'll say "arrival at delivery unit" if the station has received it. If that doesn't show then odds are that it hasn't arrived there yet. You can call the station and request it to be held there and then go pick it up if you don't mind the lines. You can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to be connected to the station. Simply give them your zip code when they answer.
