Are delays with mail sometimes normal? (USPS?

USPS Media Mail delays during Christmas?

  • I want to know if USPS Media Mail gets delayed during the Holiday Season-- around Christmas, since there is a huge influx of packages going through the mail system? I know the timeframe for Media Mail is usually 2-9 business within the 48 contiguous states (discluding Hawaii and Alaska) days depending on your shipping Zone, and the Zone of which you are shipping to. I have had Media Mail packages take up to 12 business days before, but should it ever take any longer than that? The package will be going from West Suburban Illinois to New York. I shipped today, and told the person to expect the item by the 18th. It should arrive by then, right? Please, only informed answers. Don't speculate. This is very important.

    With the decline in letter mail volume the USPS has been delivering Priority mail from New York to California in 2 days. Media mail in 6 days. But remember. its a good idea to have delivery confirmation on your package otherwise it may take longer if not Priority Mail.
