What local grocery store has the best prices?

Which grocery store would you say offers good prices for groceries?

  • Which grocery store would you saw offers good prices for groceries and why? You cannot mention a discount retailer like Target, Wal-Mart, or Meijers because all discount retailers sell more than just groceries.

  • Answer:

All retailers sell more than just groceries! What planet do you live on? Cub and Rainbow are our two primarily grocery stores. They cater to a different clientele, but both offer good prices. If there are a lot of stores in the area, the prices are generally rock bottom unless they offer a special service (like a sausage store). If there isn't a lot of stores in the area, the prices are likely 15% higher, although in very rural areas, as much as 20% (due to gas costs). What really makes a difference is what is in season and what is grown locally. In CA, the veggies were huge, gorgeous, tasty and cheap in comparison to Minneapolis. In TX, nuts and some meats were less expensive (I didn't do much shopping when I was there--pretty much just the deli and Davina's BBQ in Seguin). In Minnesota, wild rice, apples and chicken are cheap. In Massachusetts, typically sea food is cheaper (it is never cheap), as are apples.

Correction I believe you can mention a discount retailer. Walmart is opening new stores Called Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets. These stores are only groceries, the prices are better than those you can find at a regular Wal-Mart Super center, and they beat the prices of any Grocery store. If youask me you would be stupid to shop anywhere else unless for somereason they do not carry an item you like to buy. Such as Goya brand products.

I think that you mean in the US, I live in the Netherlands, we go to C1000 and AH, but when we go back to Michigan for the summer we always go to either D&W or Meijers...D&W though is pretty expensive, I think. Hope this helped! All the best, *Nicky
