How do I disable the built-in messenger when I check my Yahoo email?

  • I have a couple of permanently blocked people on my Yahoo Messenger. Deleting their name allows them to message me again and see when I'm online, since it isn't blocking their name anymore. But even if I leave them blocked in Yahoo Messenger program...the built-in messenger in my Yahoo Mail inbox shows me as online. It's frustrating. Can I disable this inbox instant messenger program that loads into the web page when I check my Yahoo email?

    Under “Chat & Mobile Text” on the left of the page, click the menu to the right of the words “I am”. This opens a pull-down menu. Click Sign out of Chat. Since Yahoo! Mail remembers your settings from session to session, you'll be signed out of chat until you change it.

This is what yahoo says: All you have to do is click the drop-down box and select “Sign out of Chat”. Once you do this you will be signed out of Yahoo! Chat and Mobile Text. That’s it - you’re done. And, the next time you sign into mail, we’ll remember your status and you won’t be logged back into Chat until you set your status back to “Available”. Hope this helps!!!
