    You must understand that Yahoo is not an email program (examples: Windows Mail or Thunderbird). It is an email service. The default email is normally a program. The only way to alter it to be Yahoo is with some type of add on or you can use the latest Firefox. ₪ For Firefox 3 and above Go to Yahoo Mail and select "options". Then select "Set Y! Mail as default webmail". This will only work for mailto links within Firefox. It can also be done by going to tools > options > applications. Scroll down to MAILTO and select Yahoo Mail from the dropdown menu. This is the required method for Beta. ₪ For Internet Explorer You must first download Yahoo! Toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com and install it. During installation you will be asked if you want to make yahoo mail your default email. ₪ Other Option Here is a program called GmailDefaultMaker. Even though it is named Gmail it will work on Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail. I have not tried it.
