What can I do to get the same speed as yahoo classic?

In Africa 1/2 time. Email access only cybercafe/friends ISP. Can I use Outlook to open/sav/file from yahoo?

  • what I would like to do is get online via yahoo, but not use the yahoo system for reading/fileing/reply, etc. The download times in Africa will kill you when you have to go into all the multiple open/close cycles to attach documents, etc. Cybercafe time is also expensive to use for composition. Most will allow you to plug in their LAN from the back of one of their computers into your own laptop for speed sake. Worse, you can't work off-line and put everything into an inbox then "send" all messages in a single burst. With Yahoo open, is there a way to download directly into my Outlook? Then compose my replies off-line and dial back up to send a day's worth of correspondance. My primary ISP is sbcglobal.net which is powered by yahoo and my yahoo account address is directed there along with the sbcglobal.net address. In fact, when I sign in on yahoo, I enter my sbcglobal address and it pulls in all my emails -- but in the Yahoo format. Thanks, IraH

  • Answer:

You can use POP access with your sbcglobal Yahoo account. But not a regular yahoo account. You need the premium access. The POP settings are described here http://support.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=287
