How can I get an audio alert when I get a new e-mail?

I don't get an audio alert when a new email is received.How can I get it back?

• I used to hear a ding or something similar when I'd recieve a new email.I used to be able hear it when I was in another room and a new email arrived .Now it's silent,so I have no notification of any kind.I could be watching TV in another room,and then my computer would make a sound kind of like a ding or doorbell sound,this way I could get up and answer it if it was an important message.I really do miss having that.It made my life a lot easier.Also,when I'm watching an item on Ebay,it would always sound when an auction item was getting close to its end.It would work exactly the way I set my preferences under the Toolbar Preferences. Is there anybody who knows how to make both of them work properly? I could really use some help here.I've tried everything imaginable! It would make my day,BIGTIME!!!   Go to Yahoo Messenger Messages Preferences Audios and alerts on menu select what want There is Probably and Ebay Plugin (not done browser is trying to crash - brb)
