How do I activate yahoo auto-alerts for my yahoo email?

Do I need the messenger? I don't have the messenger, but I have an account.. I can't find it anywhere! I saw it on the quick tips, but there was no way to turn it on. I'm lost between refreshing my inbox page to find out when I have a new email. If it was supposed to be already enabled, it isn't. How do I activate it?????

http://webmessenger.yahoo.com Try this to see if you can download the messenger from there. Mail alerts are on the messenger. You would go to the messenger and click messenger. Scroll and click Preferences. On the side menu click Alerts & Sounds. Then mark the boxes Enable alert sounds, Showing a message at the bottom right corner of screen and Playing a sound. Click Apply and Ok. Hope this helps If you have AT&T then click Help at the top right corner and click on AT&T Help. There you will find downloads for all their sites. Try the Help button anyway.
