Someone using my old @yahoo.com email?
-
Emails are being sent at random to people in my contact list from my @yahoo.com, which I no longer use. I cannot open the attachment to it as it is blocked by my virus protection. How can this be happening and how can I stop it? The email I use now is @sbcglobal.net.

Answer:
Spammers are using this 'spoofed' address, which they probably got from someone else's address book that was on an infected computer. Do NOT attempt to open any attachment in mail like this - it's always malware. Since you no longer use that account, delete it. Read carefully what other services (like Answers) you will lose if you close the account. To delete your yahoo account click this link: https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user For your alternate account name click on this link: https://edit.yahoo.com/identity/manage If you want to keep the account open, change the password, secret questions and answers, and alternate e-mail address (not a Yahoo one)
