Go back to yahoo classic?

How do I go back to classic email view with yahoo mail?

  • I think the new format is great, but it doesn't have a feature that I found vital in the classic format. Therefore, I want to know if it is possible for me to revert back to classic view. I was able to before, put my cursor over the "From" column sender, and see the email address with out having to click on the email itself. I do not like that the whole email list is one big click. I liked having to be able to highlight the name of the sender, or the subject line, and not have the gap/space between those two to be considered one click. Therefore, could someone help me out if any of you know how to revert back to yahoo classic email? Thank you.

Hello there, There are only TWO versions of Yahoo! Email left, Classic and the new Regular. All the other Yahoo Email versions Yahoo! has dropped and eliminated. There are several options available for you. #1) The are THREE links that worked today, August 27, 2011, (I have 3 more if these stop working) that will RETURN and launch your email back to the ORIGINAL Classic Mail, but you may need to continue clicking on the links each time you log in. It would be good to bookmark them, save to your favourites or email them to yourself. http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome http://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic If you click on the link and it does not automatically open up to Classic mail, copy & paste the address from your browser into a new window, and press enter. If for some reason, these links do not work for you please send me an email via the Yahoo! Answers secure email system, and I will send you a different link. (I do not see your email and you do not see my email address.) A while back as I was checking to see if they were still functioning at a friend’s, one of those links above launched into a full page of advertising for the new mail, in the small print ¾ of the page down and to the right there was an option to click that said ‘Return to Classic’. I immediately took a screen shot and saved it as a picture, and I have had other friends do the same. This is what it LOOKS like: https://sites.google.com/site/classicyastuff/ (This link takes you to a site I MADE to share with you so that you could see what the screen looks like). Newest is a Canadian friend of mine logged in not long ago, and the expected ‘Click here to continue to Classic mail was NOT there. They clicked on everything except for going to the new, and found that clicking on help lead them to a page that allowed them to go on to Classic again. That picture is posted, but the original screen is not, sorry. The report from Yahoo! is that you will need to choose EVERY TIME you open your email to stay with Classic mail, and click on the proper link until September 19, 2011, but the date keeps changing over the last few weeks. #2 Numerous solutions for various browsers and different versions of Windows people use, this is the best solution. Link to: is http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110711182440AA5aBbB The link is to an answer given by another person, Katie M, who posted a very good answer that addresses multiple browsers and Windows here on Yahoo! Answers to help you switch back. From what other Yahoo! users have email to me and from what I have read on some other Yahoo! Answers posts, disabling the scripting and lowering the resolution does NOT permanently work on a number of computer, primarily those running WINDOWS 7. You will need to either disable scripting or lower resolution EACH time you log in. For others it DOES continue to work, running Windows XP, VISTA, etc. #3 Let Yahoo! know that you would like the original Yahoo! Classic instead of the new. I would email them daily. Link is below. #4 Should you choose to keep working with the new mail there are a number of things you can try to make it work better for you. Update your Adobe Flash Player, and Java script. Check for updates for your version of Windows. Check for updates for your browser (s) Internet Explorer (IE), Safari, Google Chrome, Modzilla Firefox etc. Clear out your cache, cookies, temporary files and browsing history. The easiest method to clean out those files is press simultaneously Ctrl, Shift and Delete keys while your browser window is still OPEN. This also deletes your passwords and banking information. Or view this page for further information: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache #5 You may consider trying an alternate browser. #6 I used to suggest purchasing a Yahoo! Plus account, because there USED TO BE an option to go back to Classic, but that option is NOT there anymore. I found that out as I was trying to answer a question for another Yahoo user. After numerous attempts of trying to reach chat I was finally able to get through. (More info on my profile page.) They asked during/while they switched it back for my reasons, and that I should provide a list right there and there. Have your list ready to copy and paste into the chat window. You will also need to give them answers to your security questions, DOB, alternate email address, cell phone, etc. to confirm you are who you are. I changed the answers to all my security questions since. Direct link to chat page, you will have to wait for it to load before the chat window shows up: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/forms_index.html;_ylt=AjdqjW6dguEo.zm7Uq_IOqQaYHtG?last_url=http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/migrating/fromclassic/mltamnoswitch.html All the best to you, and I hope that this helped you. The ''New Improved'' (sic) Mail is Unstable & There are Several Solutions To go back to Y Classic Mail: I know it's a lot of words but some folks are PC illiterate & I don't Know What Group You're in. At Least One of These will work either Permanently or Temporally to get You in Your Mail for now Here are a number of solutions for you. First try this link http://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic Or http://us.mg.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?ncrumb=qX6I7W1RLK7&.rand=1044985926&nmig=no Or a shortened version Below if the above doesn't work http://preview.tinyurl.com/Switch-to-Classic Click on "No, thanks. Continue to Yahoo! Mail Classic" Note: As of May 31st, you can no longer switch back. Yahoo's removed the link to return to the classic version. If your previous version was the New Mail, then you MAY be stuck with & you can't get it back Permanently. BUT, If you have stalled from "upgrading" (like me) then the trick below will work. To get back to the Classic version you'll have to lower the resolution on your PC to the point where it won't support the Beta version. To do this Right click on a blank space on your desktop & choose "Properties". Select the "Settings" tab. Move the slider that says "Screen resolution" all the way to the left (or Below 1024 by 768 pixels) Click OK. You may have to restart your PC (depending on your settings) Note: I'm still running XP & am not sure if this works in Windows 7 - Some say it doesn't) After rebooting or logging into your Y mail account like normal while in this new low screen resolution you'll be asked to switch to the new mail. Do so & click OK or upgrade (don't worry). When you're in the new mail you'll brought to a page that tells you the resolution is to low. It'll give you a few choices. Choose the "last one" which will say something like 'go back to the previous version you were using'. Click that & you'll be brought to your old classic mail. Log out of Y mail. Now you can change your screen resolution like it was before. This should be permanent - not just one-time (or until Y mail fixes/forces this too upon us hopefully many months away) Temp Solutions: You can use these two links though it's only a temp fix & you'll have to use them every time to access the Classic version. http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch or http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome If the links don't work & open up Y Classic Mail then copy/paste the address in a new window or tab & press enter. Or try this link & choose Classic: http://us.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/dc/troubleLoading Or http://info.mail.yahoo.com/newMailClassic/info **************************************… Hope this helps and be Sure to come back & give SOMEONE a best answer because some of these answers take a lot of time & work on our part. NEW YAHOO MAIL IS STILL UNSTABLE...IT WOULD BE BEST TO GO BACK TO YOUR PREVIOUS VERSION OF YAHOO! MAIL... To go back to YAHOO! MAIL CLASSIC... Turn off Javascript - you'll then be asked if you want to return to Mail Classic, click "yes". If you don't know how to turn off Javascript... For SAFARI: Open SETTINGS>click PREFERENCES>>click SECURITY>>Uncheck ENABLE JAVA and ENABLE JAVASCRIPT IMPORTANT:Remember to RE-ENABLE JAVA and JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work. For IE: Open TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS >> SECURITY. In security click "CUSTOM LEVEL" -> disable active scripting in the scripting section. IMPORTANT:Remember to turn JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work. For FIREFOX: Open TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> CONTENT, click on "DISABLE JAVASCRIPT". Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in Yahoo! email in order to switch back... In the options, click (PERMANENT) to switch back to YAHOO! Classic. DO NOT click the "ONE TIME ONLY" option. IMPORTANT: Turn JAVASCRIPT back ON once you have your "CLASSIC" account back. PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE IF THIS SOLUTION WORKS BY CLICKING BEST ANSWER..THANKS
