I need help with an email.

I need serious help with my email... PLEASE!?

  • Hi, I have Yahoo as my primary email account, I have been having a very annoying issue with my account. It's not a "technical issue", but rather an issue of how to block/remove/unsubscribe spammers who are sending me very dangerous links and using very explicit and disturbing header lines. Of coarse, I NEVER click on the links, or show any images. The main issue that I have is that the Yahoo unsubscribe folder doesn't work on those, and there seems to be no other way to safely unsubscribe or block them. They are all coming from different email addresses, and are always sent to different email addresses, in which sometimes my own email address doesn't even appear, so it makes trying to block them useless and a waste of time. It would be never-ending. The second issue that I have is that the email account is my primary email account that I use and have used to sign up to a number of different important websites. If changing my email address blocks the spammers, how will it (or will it) effect my other important websites (such as Facebook)? If it does effect them, can I easily update my email info within those sites? Sorry if I sound "not too smart," because I haven't been using the internet for very long so I don't know how this all works. Any info you can help me with would be wonderful and very much appreciated, and thank you!

  • Answer:

Turn "Spam-Guard" ON and all spam will go to a spam folder. Go to "OPTIONS" up top on your mail page>then "MAIL OPTIONS"> then click on "SPAM" to see if you have "Spam-Guard"on, if not turn it on. On that same page you have up to 500 e-mail addresses you can type in and block. Youcan set when you want this spam folder to empty out also. This is on Yahoo Mail Classic. On The New Yahoo Mail the option you will pick is "blocked addresses". Just look for the "Spam-Guard" option or type in Yahoo Spam Guard in the search bar to get to it in Yahoo mail help. When Spam_Guard" is turned on and the spam goes into the spam folder you can view it quickly and delete it all yourself or wait for it to be deleted in the period of time you've indiated in the Spam-Guard settings. Most spam will come thru with no images for your safety and the only way you can hit the "unsubscribe" in that spam is to "show images" and you don't want to show those images. If you get spam in your regular mail then just hit the "spam" option at the top of your mail page and it will go to the spam folder. YOU WON'T STOP THE SPAM, however, Yahoo pretty much knows what spam is that is going to you and throws it in the spam folder when "Spam-Guard" is on. Make sure you have a strong password and if you're on "important websites" then change your password occasionally. Always clean your cache if using a public PC after you're done using that public PC as spammers, hackers go into those public PC's and view caches (temporary internet files) that you've left there and by public PC's I incluide work PC's. Type "clear yahoo cache" in your search bar or "clear Internet Explorer cache" (or whatever browser you use) and go only to offical sites to do this (the addresses are there for each topic). Just trying to keep all this as simple as possible. Yahoo Mail Help has how to do this also. Good luck.
