How do I get email alerts on my desktop?

2 qeries about Yahoo Mail. Is is worth changing to the new version and if I did can I get email alerts?

    The new mail has lots of problems, you can try it and switch back, just save the info. I am giving you- yahoo contacts, here is my story, I use Internet Explorer and could not find a solution to switch back to Classic Mail permanently after 2 days of pulling my hair out lots of problems! I have not found links work permanently, I went to CONTACT YAHOO CUSTOMER CARE, then clicked on LIVE CHAT, told them my old computer can not handle it, and they switched me back 5 to10 min. total, no problem, and they do not prompt me to switch anymore! You can also call Yahoo USA, but you will have a long wait! 1-866-562-7219 & 1-408-349-1572, and as always you can go to, (Help.yahoo.com). Don’t forget to vote and or comment on the best answer, really I enjoy helping people and getting the happy and sometimes funny comments and or Any-type jokes back. :) Anyway Good Luck!

Worth it ???? Well that depends on each user, and what they want (or expect to get from it). Some love it ----AND some (most) hate it. Currently there are "A LOT" of different "glitches" which range from--can't send, can't receive--contacts and previously saved emails forever lost--attachment malfunction--slow as molasses, or freezes completely--etc. etc. You need a powerful computer with lots of RAM--highspeed internet--and an upgrade to a browser of Yahoos choosing-----otherwise it probably won't work as fully as Yahoo says it will. Ultimately---it's an individual choice, that works well for some and not at all for others.

One of the most commonly asked questions in this category is " How can I go back to Yahoo Classic Mail. I dont like this new one" Its set up so you can do all the social networking things on there. I just like a nice simple inbox, and dont need all the bells and whistles, of the new yahoo mail
