Is the Yahoo Microsoft Deal going to work?

Is my yahoo e-mail account going to be affected if Microsoft buys yahoo?

  • I noticed there's been a lot of talk of microsoft buying yahoo. I don't quite understand what this means in regards to our yahoo e-mail accounts, yahoo answers, etc.. Anyone know how this will affect yahoo e-mail accounts?

    No more than myspace changed when Tom sold out to corporate America. All large corporations see is a section of the market that they can make money from. They aren't looking to buy it up and make it go away like they used to. Now they realize they can buy their competitors and let them be while collecting the profits.

That is so far in the future that I doubt that anyone has even considered it. Due to the large number of accounts I doubt that yahoo.com will ever be dropped from existing accounts. ℬ ℋ

Personally I don't think they will alter very much about Yahoo if they do suceed in their takeover. As you know Microsoft have two main cash providers,Windows and Office.Windows is the dominant operating system but Linux is getting more poular, not yet a threat but something to be aware of. There is also a new trend in office software Lotus being just one of the players. This is online offie suites, you actually work online and do not have an office suite on your computer,thus you can work from any computer anywhere. Google are putting on line an office suite. Microsoft do not have a web prescence as such to compete. Yahoo is that prescence. Microsoft want this. not any of the existing Yahoo groups. That's how I see it.
